Profhilo is one of the purest hyaluronic acid products available, and it behaves in a completely different way to dermal filler. Rather than staying where it is injected, it spreads.
Dermal filler is cross-linked, meaning the hyaluronic acid is chemically bonded into a gel that holds its shape. That is what makes it useful for building a chin or a cheekbone: it stays put. Profhilo is not cross-linked. Injected under the skin, it flows outwards and forms a thin, even layer across the treated area within hours.
Because it spreads, it cannot be used to shape anything, and it will not add volume or change your contours. What it does instead is act on skin quality. The high concentration of hyaluronic acid draws and holds water in the dermis, which is where hydration is actually lost with age, and it stimulates the skin to produce more of its own collagen and elastin over the following weeks. That combination is what the manufacturers call bio-remodelling: you are improving the material rather than adding to it.
The injection technique is part of the product. It is placed at five specific Bio Aesthetic Points on each side of the face, positions chosen because they sit away from major vessels and because they allow the product to diffuse across the widest area from the fewest injections. Ten small injections rather than dozens means less discomfort, less bruising and a more even spread.
It is a course, not a single treatment. Two sessions a month apart is the standard protocol, because the second builds on the collagen response started by the first. You will notice something at 7 to 10 days, but the real result arrives 3 to 4 weeks after the second session and holds for around six months.
They are both hyaluronic acid and they are used for completely different problems. Many faces benefit from both, at different appointments.

A recurring conversation in the clinic is with someone who knows their skin has changed but does not want their face changed. They have seen results elsewhere that look obviously done and it has put them off entirely. Profhilo exists for exactly that patient, because it is structurally incapable of altering your proportions. There is nothing to overfill.
It also pairs well rather than competing. Anti-wrinkle injections address lines made by movement, filler addresses lost structure, and neither of them does anything at all for skin that has simply become dry, thin and crepey. Profhilo is injected slowly at the five Bio Aesthetic Points on each side, then the area is gently massaged to help it settle evenly. The whole session takes 15 to 20 minutes.
Small raised bumps at the injection points are expected and normal, and settle within a few hours. Redness and mild swelling are common. You can carry on with your day as usual.
You return a month later for the second treatment. Results build over the following 3 to 4 weeks, then one maintenance session every six months keeps them.

It is not right for everyone. Profhilo does nothing for lines caused by muscle movement, and nothing for lost volume or structure, so if your concern is a flat cheek or a deep frown line we will point you elsewhere.
