How can non-surgical nose jobs change the shape of your nose? — Dermamina blog

Many people wonder how the non-surgical nose job works as the thought of getting an ideal nose shape in less than 15 minutes sounds unbelievable. With all the before and after profiles appearing on social media – some so shockingly transformative, one could easily mistaken them for classic rhinoplasty results. Most fascinating are the after results that show noses appearing smaller, especially as fillers are ‘filling’ the nose. So, how is this possible?

Non-surgical nose job, or, as some call it, “liquid rhinoplasty”, is a treatment done by injecting hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers into the nose to temporarily tweak its shape. Dermal fillers are used to reshape the contours of the nose, with small adjustments mainly to the bridge of the nose. Most commonly, it can be used to camouflage dorsal humps to provide a straightened and defined nose shape, lift and structure the nasal tip that may be drooping down, and for many provide definition along the bridge of the nose for a more contoured look. Taking no longer than 15 minutes, this advanced non-invasive procedure can provide instant reshaping and modifying of the nose.

What does a non-surgical nose job procedure actually involve?

The consultation:

Before the treatment begins, there is a thorough consultation provided to get to know the person; what is the patient expecting to achieve; what they dislike and like about their nose and if they have any relevant medical concerns. Then, there will be an honest evaluation to see if the person is suitable for the treatment or not. Mina does not go ahead with the treatment if the nose is not suitable or if the treatment will not make a difference to an already beautiful nose.

Once the person gets the green card of approval by Mina, the process of the treatment and what to expect after the treatment will be explained. This includes what can be achieved with the non-surgical nose treatment, how it will be administered - through injecting dermal fillers, complications that can arise, as with all injectable treatments and what to expect after the treatment including post treatment advice. Post treatment advice includes:

  • Avoid exercising immediately following treatment for 24 hours
  • Avoid any objects around the nose, including glasses or sunglasses and no excessive pressure, touching or rubbing of the areas injected for the first few days
  • There should be no dental treatments for the first few weeks following the treatment
  • No alcohol or excessive salts for 24 hours
  • Avoid applying makeup for 12 hours after the treatment
  • Avoid getting a facial, laser treatment and having hot baths and sauna/ steam rooms

It is important that all patients follow the post treatment advice and to report any side effects and concerns that patients have following the treatment. An after care email is immediately sent right after the treatment; at Dermamina we make sure you are in safe hands during and after the treatment.

The Treatment:

After the consultation, Mina makes sure the patient is ready and comfortable before starting. Only when the patient has received all the information and has given full consent to go ahead with the treatment, it will be done.

The treatment begins with a thin layer of anaesthetic cream, which will be applied to the bridge of the nose to numb the area for minimal pain. Once it’s been confirmed that the area has numbed, the injection will strategically be injected slowly and carefully in small amounts, into precise contours of the nose. Dermal fillers are injected underneath the skin in the right areas of the nose and the gel settles into where it’s injected to hold the shape, instantly modifying the shape of the nose. At Dermamina, we want the patient to be as involved as they like and provide feedback to avoid any unexpected end results. Unlike surgical treatments, the patient will be awake and under no general anaesthesia, meaning the patient has a choice to see the results unfold as the injections are administered.

Taking no longer than 15 minutes, the treatment is done and the patient will be able to see instant results. As there was no surgery involved, there is no downtime and prolonged healing needed. It is a knife-free alternative to traditional rhinoplasty, using dermal fillers injected into the nose with a very fine needle.

Targeted areas:

The treatment targets the bridge, nasal tip, and sides of the nose. Dermal fillers can be injected strategically to the targeted areas of the nose to improve the contours and modify the shape of the nose. The treatment is most suitable for:

  • Hooked nose — a prominent hump along the bridge. Filler smooths humps for a straighter, balanced shape.
  • Droopy tip — strategic injections support and lift the nasal tip, enriching the side profile.
  • Flat bridge — adding definition along the bridge for contour and structure, making the nose look slimmer and defined.

At Dermamina London, appointments can last as little as 30 minutes, including consultation time. This ‘15-minute nose job’ allows you to get back to living your life with minimal disruption and a boost in self-confidence. There is no need to take time off work to deal with prolonged healing and swelling; the patient is free to immediately resume their regular routine.

What to expect post treatment

After the non-surgical nose treatment, there is no recovery time needed; you can get back to your daily activities or work that does not include any physical activity or sun exposure the very same day. Following the treatment there will be some swelling, redness at the injection site and some may experience slight bruising. For many there are no visible marks and the redness and bruising subside within a week or two. The patient may take Arnica tablets or apply gel after the treatment to help bruising and soothe the skin. You may also bring an ice pack to use after the treatment to minimise redness and inflammation, only if advised.

How long do the results of the treatment last?

The non-surgical nose treatment is ideal for people who are not ready for a permanent solution, or are worried about the risks, side effects, prolonged healing and recovery time involved in a surgical nose job. Results usually last up to 12–18 months but this depends on the individual’s metabolism and lifestyle. Because results are temporary, tweaks can be made as the face changes over time; patients often top-up around 9 months.

Is the treatment reversible?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses HA dermal fillers, a gel-like substance naturally found in the body. One benefit of HA is that it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Fillers can be partially or fully dissolved if someone is unhappy with the result (not encouraged unless necessary) or for safety. Dissolving is typically performed after two weeks and should be done by the same practitioner; in severe complications, filler can be dissolved immediately.
