Can I get a free nose job on the NHS?
You cannot usually get a free nose job on the NHS if the concern is cosmetic. The NHS only considers rhinoplasty when there is a clear medical need. This includes breathing problems, deformity after an accident, or structural issues present from birth.
When the NHS may consider rhinoplasty
To qualify, your GP must agree that there is a medical reason and refer you to a specialist for further assessment. The specialist will review your symptoms and decide whether treatment is medically necessary.
The NHS may consider treatment for:
- Breathing problems caused by a deviated septum
- Structural deformity after trauma
- Congenital issues present from birth
- Rare cases of significant psychological distress supported by medical evidence
