Skin tightening in London. Which treatment, and why.

Five non-surgical treatments that firm and lift, how they differ, and how to tell which one suits what you want to change.

In short

  • Laxity and volume loss are different problems. Tightening treatments firm skin that has loosened. They do not replace lost volume.
  • XERF is the single-treatment option. Dual-frequency radiofrequency, no needles, results that typically last around a year. Full face £2,000.
  • EmFace tones as well as tightens, over a course of sessions, also with no needles.
  • Radiesse+ and Profhilo work from within the skin, by stimulating collagen or improving skin quality, and are injectables.

Start with what has changed

Skin tightening works best when the main change is laxity: skin that has loosened along the jawline, the lower face and the neck. If the face has also lost volume, a tightening treatment on its own will not fully address it, and your clinician may suggest combining treatments.

XERF: one treatment, no needles

XERF delivers radiofrequency at two frequencies at once, 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz, treating shallow, middle and deep layers in one pass. Most patients have one treatment, some lift is normally visible the same day, and results typically last around a year. It is around one to two out of ten for comfort and needs no numbing.

Full face is £2,000, or £500 today then three monthly payments of £500 at 0% interest. The full breakdown is on our XERF cost guide.

EmFace: tightening and toning together

EmFace combines radiofrequency with muscle stimulation, so it works on the skin and the facial muscles in the same session. Each session takes about 20 minutes, with no needles and no time off. It is a course: four to six sessions give the best results.

Radiesse+: lift now, collagen after

Radiesse+ is an injectable that lifts and contours on the day and builds your own collagen over the months that follow. It is usually a course of two, and results last 12 to 18 months.

Profhilo and Profhilo Structura: skin quality and support

Profhilo is an injectable skin booster that improves hydration, firmness and elasticity without changing the shape of your face: two sessions a month apart, with results around six months. Profhilo Structura supports the face's structure without a filled look.

How to choose

This is a starting point, not a prescription. Your clinician assesses your skin and facial structure at consultation and recommends what fits. EmFace can also be added to a XERF appointment at a reduced price.

Questions, answered.

There is no single best treatment. It depends on how much laxity there is, whether there is also volume loss, and whether you would rather have one treatment or a course. XERF is the single-treatment option; EmFace, Radiesse+ and Profhilo cover toning, collagen and skin quality.

At Dermamina, XERF Full Face is £2,000. EmFace is £350 a session, or £245 a session as a course of six. Radiesse+ is £480 a session, or £430 a session as a course of two. Profhilo is from £300.

XERF and EmFace. Radiesse+ and Profhilo are injectables.

XERF typically lasts around a year, Radiesse+ 12 to 18 months and Profhilo around six months. Results are progressive rather than permanent, since skin continues to age.

Where jowls come from loosening skin, tightening can firm the area, and a cleaner jawline is one of the most common XERF results. How much change is achievable depends on how much laxity there is, which is assessed at consultation.

Most patients go back to work the same day after any of the treatments on this page.
