XERF results, and how long they last

What changes on the day, what builds over the months afterwards, and what XERF will not do.

In short

  • Some lift is normally visible the same day, because tissue contracts during the treatment itself.
  • The larger change builds over months as collagen production increases. The three month mark is usually when people notice it properly.
  • Results generally hold for around a year before most patients consider maintenance.
  • It firms and lifts. It does not add volume and it is not a facelift.

What happens on the day

Radiofrequency heats tissue in a controlled way, and tissue contracts as it is heated. That contraction is immediate, which is why most patients see some lift before they leave the clinic. It is a real change rather than swelling, and it is the reason XERF feels different from treatments where nothing visible happens for months.

It is also the smaller part of the result. What you see on the day is the start of the curve, not the end of it.

What builds afterwards

The heat delivered at depth stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen. That process is slow by nature. Firming continues to develop over the weeks and months after the treatment, and most patients notice the meaningful change somewhere around the three month mark, with improvement continuing beyond it.

Because it is gradual, the people around you tend to register that you look well rather than that you have had something done. For most patients that is the point.

How long XERF results last

Typically around a year. Results are progressive rather than permanent, because skin continues to age and collagen continues to decline. Most patients plan a maintenance treatment at roughly that point, and it is discussed at consultation rather than assumed.

No skin tightening treatment stops ageing. What XERF does is move you back along the curve and slow the next stretch of it.

Before and after

The photographs on our main XERF page include a patient photographed immediately after a single treatment, before she left the clinic, alongside results at one and two treatments. Two patients also describe their own experience on film.

Results vary between patients. Skin firmness at the start, age, how much structural change you are asking for and how your own collagen responds all affect the outcome, which is why the consultation sets expectations before anything is booked.

Getting the most from the result

Questions, answered.

Some lift is normally visible the same day, because tissue contracts during treatment. The larger, collagen-driven firming builds over the following months, and most patients notice the meaningful change around three months.

Typically around a year. Results are progressive rather than permanent, since skin continues to age, so most patients plan a maintenance treatment at that point. This is discussed at consultation.

Most patients have one. Your clinician confirms this at consultation based on your skin firmness and what you want to change.

XERF firms and lifts, and a cleaner jawline is one of the most common results. How much change is achievable depends on how much laxity there is, which is assessed at consultation. Where the amount of loose tissue is significant, we will tell you if surgery is the more appropriate route.

No. XERF tightens and firms existing tissue. It does not replace lost volume, which is what dermal fillers are for.

Firmer skin, a cleaner jawline and structural support across several layers, with no needles, no numbing and no surgical downtime, normally from a single treatment.
